Eligibility

Applicants must hold an MSc degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, such as Nanotechnology, Material Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, MPharm, or MTech in Chemical Engineering.


Eligibility After a Master’s Degree


Candidates applying after a 2-year (4-semester) master’s program must have at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade ‘B’ on the UGC 10-point scale.


Eligibility After a 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree


Candidates applying after a 4-year (8-semester) bachelor’s degree in research must have a minimum CGPA of 7.5/10,

along with qualifying any of the following:

DBT-BET, ICMR-JRF, GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-JRF, ARS-NET, or GPAT.

Candidates who have completed their master’s degree through the following patterns are eligible for PhD admission, in line with NEP 2020 guidelines:

Eligibility with a 1-Year Master’s Degree


Candidates with:


A 1-year (2-semester) master’s degree after a 4-year undergraduate program, or


A 5-year integrated master’s degree,


must have at least 55% aggregate marks or grade ‘B’ on the UGC 10-point scale, or an equivalent grade wherever a different grading system is used.


Additionally, an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign educational institution—accredited or approved by an authorized body responsible for assessing or assuring academic standards in that country—will also be considered valid for admission.

PhD Degree in Chemistry Analytical Admission Process

Students who meet the requirements of the two-stage selection process will be considered for admission to the integrated courses.


Stage 1 – Written Test


All eligible applicants must appear for a Written Test, which will be conducted at the NMIMS campus in Mumbai. The exact venue details will be communicated well in advance of the examination date.


Stage 2 – Personal Interview


Candidates who qualify based on their performance in the written test will be shortlisted and invited for a personal interview at the NMIMS Mumbai Campus.


Final Selection


A composite merit list will be prepared according to the criteria set by the University, taking into account each candidate’s performance in both Stage 1 and Stage 2.
