Eligibility

1. Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Commerce (M.Com), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business with at least 75% marks and four years of professional experience in teaching, research, or industry may also be eligible.
  • Relaxation for Reserved Categories: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-Abled, or other specified categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in minimum marks, as per UGC and government guidelines.

2. Entrance Examination:

  • Candidates must appear for the PhD Entrance Test (PET) conducted by DBU, which evaluates research aptitude, knowledge of management concepts, and general academic ability.

3. Interview:

  • After qualifying the entrance test, candidates are invited for an interview where their research proposal and academic background are assessed.
  • Candidates who have already qualified UGC (JRF)/NET/SET/SLET or hold an M.Phil. degree may directly appear for the interview without taking the entrance test.

4. Other Eligibility Considerations:

  • Candidates must have completed a master’s degree program following a bachelor’s degree.
  • Certain fellowships or exams such as GATE, Teacher Fellowship, or HPKVSPP may also satisfy eligibility requirements, as per UGC notifications.


PhD in Commerce - Admission Process
