Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria


Candidates must meet one of the following academic qualifications:


• A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after completing a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree program, OR

• A 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree program, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field, with at least 55% aggregate marks or a 5.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale.

These candidates must qualify the CU-Ph.D. Entrance Test, followed by an interview.

Exemption from Entrance Test


Applicants who have qualified any of the following exams are exempted from the CU-Ph.D. Entrance Test:


• UGC NET / JRF

• CSIR NET / JRF

• Valid GATE or GPAT score

• M.Phil. (Regular mode only)

PhD Degree in Teacher Education Admission Process

Program Structure

43 credit hours of coursework

Core coursework covers theories of teaching, teacher education research, and advanced academic seminars. Students are required to complete a minimum of four research methods courses, selected with guidance from their advisory committee. Additional research courses may be taken to strengthen methodological skills based on research needs.


Of the total coursework, 22 credit hours focus on specialized knowledge in teacher education. At least nine credits must be taken from within the department, and one advisory committee member should represent this emphasis area.
